Telephone Scam, Coos Co.
CCSO release – Date / Time: July 12, 2023; Classification: Information / Scam; Location: Coos County; Law Enforcement telephone scam circling Coos County once again. A phone scam involving nefarious individuals claiming to be “Capt. Sanborn,” from The Coos County Sheriff’s Office has been circulating the local area. The caller asks for payment to avoid being arrested on outstanding warrants. Please know the Coos County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER contact you via phone and request money in exchange to clear a warrant, or for any other legal matters. If you have concerns that you may have been scammed, please report the information to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office at 541-396-2106.

DUII Seven Devils Rd.
CCSO release – Date / Time: July 8th, 2023, at 9:24 p.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00021262; Classification: DUII / Reckless Driving; Location: Seven Devils Road / U.S. Hwy 101; Suspect(s): Jeremy T. Dowell (46); Bandon man arrested for DUII after vehicle leaves the roadway. On July 8th, 2023 at 9:24 p.m. a Bay City’s Ambulance crew called the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center to report a driving complaint on U.S. Hwy 101 traveling southbound near mile post 259. It was reported that a red Nissan Sentra was driving recklessly by crossing both travel lanes repeatedly until it became stuck on the shoulder of the roadway on U.S. Hwy 101 near Seven Devils Road. Deputy H. Francis responded and spoke with the vehicle operator, Jeremy T. Dowell (46) of Bandon. After an investigation, Mr. Dowell was placed under arrest for DUII and reckless driving. Mr. Dowell was transported to the Bandon Police Department for additional testing and was later released on a citation for DUII and reckless driving. Mr. Dowell’s vehicle was towed from the location by Mast Brothers Towing.
