Drugs at the Coos Co. Jail
CCSO release – Date / Time: May 27th, 2023, at 12:58 pm; Case Number(s): Classification: Possession of a Controlled Substance; Location: Coos County Jail; Suspect(s): Jeremiah West; •••Coos County man found to have fentanyl and methamphetamine during the booking process at the Coos County Jail••• On May 27th, 2023, at approximately 12:58 pm, Deputy R. Campbell conducted the property inventory and search of Adult in Custody (AIC) Jeremiah West. During the search process, Deputy Campbell located a substantial amount of methamphetamine and around 40 blue pills with markings matching that of fentanyl on AIC West’s person. Deputy Campbell and the Jail Supervisor turned the dangerous drugs over to the arresting agency for processing.
Warrant Arrest, Lakeside
CCSO release – Date / Time: May 25th at 8:20 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-11176; Classification: Warrant Arrest / Escape II / Resisting Arrest; Location: U.S. Hwy 101 & Airport Way (Lakeside); Suspect(s): Richard D. Clemons (44). Wanted Man observed in Lakeside by deputies, resulting in a foot chase and tazer deployment to take him into custody. On May 25th, 2023, at 8:20 p.m., Det. B. Davis and Reserve Lt. A. Churchill were on patrol in the Lakeside area. Det. B. Davis observed a man walking on the side of U.S. Hwy 101 near Airport Way whom he knew as Richard D. Clemons (44). Det. Davis had the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center conduct a record check on Mr. Clemons as Det. Davis was aware Mr. Clemons had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Dispatch confirmed this information. Det. Davis and Lt. Churchill contacted Mr. Clemons near the Eel Creek Campground, advising him he was under arrest on several outstanding warrants. Mr. Clemons immediately fled from the Deputies on foot. Both Deputies pursued Mr. Clemons and caught up to him. Mr. Clemons actively resisted arrest by fighting with the Deputies and ultimately had to be tazed to take him into custody. Mr. Clemons was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with escape II and resisting arrest. Mr. Clemons was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
Assault by Brick, Grinnell Ln.
CCSO release – Date / Time: May 27th, 2023 at 06:30 am; Case Number(s): S23-11910; Classification: Assault 2, Unlawful use of a weapon (brick), Criminal Trespass 1; Location: Grinnell Ln in Coos Bay; Suspect(s): Nathanael L. Fleming (34). A 34-year-old Coos County man was arrested after hitting a man with a brick. On May 27th, 2023, around 06:30 am, Deputy H. Francis responded to a call for service to interview a possible victim of an assault on Grinnell Ln in Coos Bay. During the interview with the victim and other witnesses, Deputy Francis learned that the victim had been struck with a brick in the back of the head after a verbal dispute with an acquaintance, later identified as Nathanael Fleming. It was learned that Mr. Fleming had left the scene in a black SUV immediately after the attack. Deputy Z. Smith assisted Deputy Francis with investigating the location of Mr. Fleming. After completing his investigation on May 28th, 2023 around 09:45 am, Deputy Smith contacted Mr. Fleming. Deputy Smith took Mr. Fleming into custody without issue. Mr. Fleming was taken to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged for Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful use of a Weapon, and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. Mr. Fleming is being held without bail pending his first court appearance.
