SAR K9 Certifications
CCSO release Date / Time: April 24th – April 28th, 2023; Location: Butte Montana; Local Search & Rescue K9 teams obtain K9 tracking certifications at the advanced K9 conference in Butte Montana. From April 24th thru April 28th, three Coos County Search & Rescue K9 teams attended an advanced K9 training conference in Butte, Montana, to hone their tracking knowledge and skills. The course, put on by the American Society of Canine Trainers International, consisted of several hours of classroom, tracking, problem-solving and culminated with attempting to certify. We are pleased to announce that all three of our local search & rescue teams passed Search & Rescue I certification through the American Society of Canine Trainers International. We congratulate these phenomenal volunteers for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments. Over 100 MPH on Hwy. 101
CCSO release – Date / Time: May 4, 2023, at 2:35 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-09869; Classification: Probation Violation; Location: Hwy 101 near milepost 247; Suspect(s): Brandon Martinez (33). Driving complaint results in arrest of a man driving over 100 mph on a probation violation. On May 4th, 2023, at 2:35 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a driving complaint on U.S. Hwy 101 near milepost 247. The vehicle was described as a red Acura car southbound on Hwy 101, speeding and making dangerous passes over double yellow lines. Deputy H. Francis responded to the area and located the car passing several vehicles just south of the Winchester Trails OHV area on U.S. Hwy 101. Deputy Francis was able to record the vehicle on radar at a speed of 101 miles per hour. Deputy Francis conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Hwy 101 & West Beaver Hill Rd. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brandon Martinez (33). Mr. Martinez failed to provide proof of insurance and laughed when Deputy Francis told him his driving behavior was borderline criminal. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised that Mr. Martinez was also on supervised probation out of the Community Corrections Department. After an investigation, Brandon Martinez (33) was arrested for a probation violation, and Mast Brothers Towing impounded his vehicle. Additionally, Mr. Martinez was issued citations for driving over 100 MPH (VBR), careless driving, and failure to carry proof of insurance. Mr. Martinez was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he remains in custody.
