Central Coast K9 Pursuit, Jan. 15

On January 12, 2018 Deputy Smith of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the report of a physical domestic disturbance occurring at a residence just north of the City of Yachats. Deputies arrived to find the 19 year old female victim suffering from injuries consistent with assault and strangulation. The suspect, Matthew Poreda (4/29/1987), is described as a 31 year old white male 5’11” approximately 165 lbs, he is a local resident of the Yachats area. Poreda fled the scene prior to the arrival of the responding law enforcement units. Deputies on scene requested Deputy Carter and his K9 partner Bonni respond to the scene to begin a search for the suspect. After a 41 minute search, Mr. Poreda was located by K9 Bonni and the search team. Upon contact Poreda fled a short distance jumping into patch of blackberry bushes where he was cornered by K9 Bonni. Poreda was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Poreda was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on the following charges: Assault IV (Domestic Violence); Strangulation; Harassment; Kidnapping; DUII.
