Prosecutors claimed he made millions by illegally distributing movies and television shows on the Internet. Thirty-one year old Talon White, Newport, was sentenced in Federal Court, Portland, Friday, July 9, to 12 months and one day in prison after pleading guilty to copyright infringement and tax evasion charges. He will also serve three-years of supervised release. White reportedly had numerous websites that offered subscribers the ability to download copyrighted material. The Motion Picture Association of America sought and received a Cease and Desist Order against White in 2014, but he kept running his sites. Officials seized nearly $4 million from his accounts, $35,000 in cash and more than $1 million in cryptocurrency. Judge Ann L. Aiken order White to pay more than $4 million in restitution, forfeit money from his bank account and give up a home he bought in Newport.
