Central Coast Public Beach Access Controversy, Feb. 27

A disputed public access trail to a Central Oregon Coast beach continues to be controversial.  The location is “Pacific Panorama” in the Lincoln Beach area of Lincoln Co. between Depoe Bay and Lincoln City.  The controversy started about two years ago over an unmarked 80-foot trail to the beach.  Well, not quite.  Erosion has taken its toll on the trail’s end and residents say it is now just too slippery and unsafe.  A 20-foot retaining wall was also added.  But, that hasn’t stopped Lincoln County officials.  They recently installed public access signs to the unimproved trail.
