Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) responded to two fires Monday, June 27. The first fire occurred on Agness Road around mile marker 30 just after 4 pm. CFPA and the US Forest Service responded with several engines, a helicopter and a bull dozer to help corral the fire. The fire, human-caused, was burning in steep terrain which slowed firefighting efforts, and the fire was contained late in the night at 6 acres. The second fire was reported at around 6 pm in the Lee Valley area off Summerlin Road and was the result of a rekindled debris burn. Thanks to local residents and ranchers who took quick action to contain the fire until fire crews arrived. The fire was stopped at about ¼ acre. CFPA asks everyone to help do their part to prevent wildfires. For more information, go to CFPA on the web at www.coosfpa.net, follow us on Facebook and twitter, or call the closure line 541-267-1789.
