CHW release – On May 11, Governor Brown announced that once 70% of people in Oregon ages 16 and older receive a first dose of vaccine, most restrictions laid out in the County Risk Level framework, will be lifted. Beginning May 21, counties will be eligible for the option to move to Lower Risk health and safety restrictions in Oregon’s Risk Level Framework. To do so, counties must: · Have reached 65% of the county population 16 and older with a first vaccine. · Submitted a complete plan to OHA detailing steps to close vaccination equity gaps in the county. Until Oregon can vaccinate 70% of people ages 16 and older, the state’s County Risk Level framework will remain in effect. For the upcoming period beginning on May 14, 21 counties will remain in High Risk, seven counties will be in Moderate Risk and eight counties will be in Lower Risk. Coos County will continue in Moderate Risk. We will be returning to a two-week cycle for County Risk Level assignments, and the next updates will be announced on Tuesday, May 25 and take effect on Friday, May 28.
