CHM First Tuesday Talk – Drag as an Artform and Activism, June 6

The Coos History Museum will be hosting the June First Tuesday Talk program on June 6th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Coos History Museum; doors open at 5:30 pm. Sid D’Lish is presenting “Drag as an Artform and Activism”. Sid is a producer, director, and drag king performer with a passion for bringing awareness to the history of drag kings and its relevance in both the 2SLBGTQ+ community and beyond. Join us at the Coos History Museum as our speaker explores the role of drag throughout history and discusses the uptick in stigmas towards drag. From Shakespeare to RuPaul, from liberation to oppression; the story of drag has always had a place in our society, our culture, and in our community. We will look at how drag culture has transformed over the last century as a form of gender expression and how kings and queens have set different paths within the 2SLGBTQ+ community and within mainstream America. This program is in support of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and Pride Month. It will be hosted in-person and is open to the public with an admission price of $7 for non-members and is FREE for CHM members. Those who wish to save time and be admitted directly to the program can pre-register and pay in advance by contacting the museum. Reservations can be made by phone at 541-756-6320 or register in person at the museum’s front desk. Walk-ins are welcome for all Tuesday Talk programs!
