City of North Bend seeking a Homeless Response Director, Feb. 27

City of North Bend release – This position’s sole purpose is to work towards the reduction and prevention of homelessness in Coos County. The position has an anticipated end date of May 31, 2024. Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid state license with a good driving history. Possess a degree in political science, public administration, sociology, criminal justice, or another related field. Four years of experience coordinating houseless and community development programs and managing program performance is required. The Board will give an equivalent combination of education and experience consideration. Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, policies, procedures, statutes, and regulations regarding nondiscrimination is needed. Project management experience, with necessary compliance to strict regulations and laws. Job Duties: Develop short and long-range plans to coordinate, advise and implement efforts to reduce and eliminate houselessness in Coos County. Assess the political/community environment and potential impact, risks, and benefits associated with particular proposals brought to the Advisory Board. Research best practices providing services to people experiencing houselessness, prepare objective criteria for evaluating houseless needs, and attempt to integrate them in Coos County. Work with local service providers to obtain the number of persons experiencing houselessness in their locations, then create and maintain information on available services, eligibility requirements, and access points for persons in need. Track, analyze, and report on performance milestones, outcomes, and goal achievements. Researches and pursues funding opportunities and manages community grants and contracts supporting the reduction and prevention of homeless. Work closely with Rural Development Initiatives (RDI), the contractor hired to complete a five-year strategic plan, to assist with creating a local Advisory Panel of homelessness experts and serve as a central point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the process of creating the strategic plan.
