Learn how to swing! The Clambake Jazz Festival has teamed-up with the USA Dance organization to offer FREE SWING DANCE LESSON’s. When: February 27th, from 6:30p-8:30p. Where: Upstairs at the Eagles Lodge at 568 S. 2nd Street in Coos Bay. Open to the public, no partner necessary. Beginners will learn the basics of East Coast Swing and for the more experienced dancer learn an additional move each night. Then, Get your dance shoes ready for Its MORE than just Jazz at this year’s 25th Celebration March 14th, 15th, 16th, 2014. That’s right we’re celebrating 25 Years of bringing the music you love to jump and jive to, swing and sway to, or just sit back and tap your toes to, the 25th South Coast Clambake Jazz Festival has something for everyone! Once again, in addition to the full and fantastic festival line-up, the Clambake Jazz Festival is offering up some special events to coincide with the arrival of thousands of out-of-town visitors. The whole thing starts with the Warm-up Party on Thursday, March 13th, at 6:30pm, in the Salmon Room of The Mill Casino featuring the music of Soulpie at 6:30p, followed by Young Bucs at 7:45p then High Street at 9p. Admission: $10 or $8 with All-Events Badge. From 2-5pm, Friday, March 14th, 3 youth Jazz bands from North Bend, Marshfield and the Myrtle Point High School Show Choir and Southwestern Oregon Community Jazz Band will be featured in the Salmon Room. This event will be FREE to the public. Then the professionals take over all under one roof at The Mill Casino for a weekend full of a wide variety of music, from swing, doo-wop, blues, big band and Zydeco! Also, the traditional Sunday morning FREE non-denominational Gospel service returns in the Salmon room of The Mill, starting at 10:00 a.m., and will feature the music of High Street. So spread the word! The Jazz Festival is coming, the Jazz Festival is coming! We encourage local businesses and agencies to join us as we put out the welcome mats in advance of the event that is again expected to draw dancers and music enthusiasts from 12 Different states & 60 Towns in Oregon including Roseburg, Eugene and Portland.
