The Coos Bay Police Dept. plans on participating in the nationwide “Click It Or Ticket” safety belt enforcement campaign May 19th through June 1st. This is the second of three scheduled safety belt and traffic safety campaigns this year. Funding for the extra traffic coverage comes from federal overtime grants through the US Dept. of Transportation. According to a news release from the city, “a statewide observation survey in June 2013 found 98-percent of Oregon’s motoring public using safety belts making Oregon one of the two highest belt use states in our country.”
