NeighborWorks Umpqua release – Coos Bay, OR (October 31, 2018) – NeighborWorks Umpqua (NWU) has been working to enhance economic opportunities within local food systems in collaboration with Coos, Curry & Douglas counties with the WealthWorks program and Rural Development Initiatives (RDI). Throughout the process, NWU has identified gaps, barriers, and opportunities for growth within the local food system. NWU has been moving forward with this work, and currently aims to address the issue of cold storage in this region through a market demand assessment. NWU hopes to reach all individuals and businesses in these counties that use or need cold storage to fill the short survey. The purpose of the survey will be to determine the location and type of cold storage facilities that would be most beneficial for these counties. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete, and each entry is awarded the chance to win a $100 gift certificate. This survey will remain open from October 1st to November 30th, with one gift card winner for each of the three counties chosen on December 1st. The survey can be completed by clicking the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ColdStorageAssessment. Any questions specific to this survey should be directed to Daniella Williams at (541) 414-6368 or dwilliams@nwumpqua.org.
