Commercial Dungeness Crab fishermen started leaving the Coos Bay downtown docks on Friday mid-day after word was received an opening price had been negotiated between processors and the fleet. An offer of $2.75 lb. was agreed upon and crabber immediately began setting their pots off the Coast. The commercial crab season in Oregon is state’s most lucrative. According to the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, there are 44 boats in the fleet serving six ports along the 400-mile Coast from Astoria to Brookings.
