Commercial Fishing Death Lawsuit, Oct. 8

The widow of a man who lost his life last January in a capsizing of a commercial vessel near Port Orford has filed a $9 million wrongful death lawsuit in federal court. Dan Zai Self charged in the suit that the captain of the Sea Hunt, Michael Fowler, and its owners, Claudia and Vernon Fowler, are accused of wrongful death and maritime negligence in the death of Albert G. Self, a crew member. Self, Michael Fowler and Ariana Hall were all tossed into the cold Pacific Ocean waters when a large wave struck the boat. They were searching for lost crab pots near Paradise point when the wave struck.
