The Committee for Family Forestlands will meet Thursday, March 17. The meeting will include discussion about a recent American Forest Foundation report, “Western Water Threatened by Wildfire.” The committee will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Santiam Room in Building D at the Oregon Department of Forestry’s Headquarters at 2600 State Street, Salem. The meeting will also include: * Updates on the recent legislative session, fire liability for prescribed burning, the final 2015 Tax Symposium report to the Board of Forestry and the streamside shade buffer rulemaking; * Discussions about seedling supply and demand, appointing an ex-officio committee member from the U.S. Forest Service and the committee’s role with the Ritter Land Management Team. The 13-member Committee for Family Forestlands researches policies that affect family forestland viability, natural resource protection and forestry benefits.
