The Coos Bay Area Zonta Service Foundation is seeking applications from local non-profits to provide grants for programs that make a positive change in the lives of women. The purpose of the foundation is to work for the improvement of the legal, economic, educational, health and professional status of women and children. The funds available for distribution this year are a result of the clubs’ Celerity Dinner and Auction held in February of 2014. Last year our Foundation awarded over $14,000 in grants to nine organizations. The focus of our grant awards this year is to improve the status of women (women are defined as being ages 16 and above) through education, health, and working towards ending violence against women. Grants will be provided for either general operation support or special project. The Coos Bay Area Zonta Service Foundation will distribute funds locally in our 2014 fiscal year for scholarships and school supplies to Coos County public schools through the Little Red Schoolhouse program, and other locals grants to improve the health, education and safety of women in our area. Grant applications are due September 15, 2014. For more information or to obtain an application please contact Carolyn Thompson at 541-297-5022 or bcthompson99@msn.com.
