Coos Bay Area Zonta Service Foundation receives a grant from the Menasha Legacy Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation, Feb. 2

The Coos Bay Area Zonta Service Foundation is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Menasha Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation to support the Little Red Schoolhouse project providing school supplies and backpacks to low-income students in Coos County.  The mission of the Zonta Foundation  is to work for the improvement of the legal, economic, educational, health, and professional status of women and children. For many years, with proceeds from an annual Celebrity Dinner and Auction fundraiser, and with generous support from organizations such as the Menasha Legacy Fund, the Zonta Foundation has helped thousands of Coos County children begin each school year with the basic supplies needed to be ready to learn. This year’s Celebrity Dinner will be held February 18 at The Mill Casino and Hotel.  The mission of The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) is to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awards more than $60 million annually in grants and scholarships. The OCF makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the Foundation’s Portland office. Individuals or businesses interested in establishing a fund may visit www.oregoncf.org
