News release CBFD. On November 16, at 10:21 p.m., The Coos Bay Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in an upstairs room in a home located at 63197 Eastport Road in the Libby District. First arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the second floor and roof area of the home. Suppression personnel found an active fire on the second floor of the structure, and they did a complete search of the building to ensure there were no occupants still in the home. The fire originated in an upstairs bedroom of the structure, and it was brought under control within 20 minutes of arrival. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been conducted by the Coos Bay Fire Department, and it was determined to be caused by an electrical wiring failure. The Coos Bay Fire Department estimates the fire damage to the structure to be $30,000, and an additional $5,000 to the contents of the home. The home was occupied by Jeremy Wallace, Devon Canevari, and Gary Woznaik. The owner was reported to be Mike Canevari. It is believed that the owner of the structure has insurance on the building. A total of 23 firefighters, 3 engines, 1 rescue, and 3 utility vehicles responded to the scene.
