CBPD release – UPDATE 12/13/23 10:30 a.m. – The Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) is requesting information from anyone who saw individuals or activity near the vehicle belonging to the homicide victim while it was parked along Highway 38. Mr. Averill’s vehicle, a silver 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup, was parked along Highway 38 approximately five miles west of Elkton on December 12, 2023.
