A Coos Bay Missionary, who ran an orphanage in Cambodia, is in a Lane County Jail at Eugene following his release and deportation from the Southeast Asia country. Daniel Stephen Johnson faces charges that he allegedly molested an underage boy while in the foreign country between Nov. 2005 and Oct. 2006. The 36-year old had been in the country for ten years and completed a one year prison sentence for allegedly molesting five young boys before he was turned over to the FBI and returned to Oregon. A federal grand jury in Eugene indicted him on Dec. 10 while he was still in the Cambodia prison. More than a decade ago Johnson was accused of molesting three children in his sister’s care; however, Lincoln Co. prosecutors reportedly dismissed the charges when the alleged victim’s statements came into doubt.
