Coos Bay Public Works Department Set to Implement Traffic Changes at 4th and Lockhart intersection to Improve Safety

Coos Bay Public Works Department is advising motorists there will be a change to traffic control signage at 4th Street and Lockhart Avenue beginning at 3:30 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2013. The stop sign for westbound traffic on Lockhart will be removed at the intersection with 4th St. As a result, westbound drivers will no longer be required to stop at the 4th Street intersection. Therefore, eastbound drivers on Lockhart wishing to turn left (north) onto 4th Street must yield to westbound vehicles. Drivers on all streets that intersect Lockhart will continue to be required to stop.

The changes are designed to address safety issues associated with the intersection at 4th and Lockhart. All travelers in this corridor are encouraged to watch carefully for new signage identifying west bound traffic on Lockhart at the 4th and Lockhart intersection will not be required to stop.
