News release from the City of Coos Bay. “A sanitary sewer overflow occurred Monday morning April 21, 2014 in the area of 16th Street and Coos River Highway. The overflow was caused by roots and a buildup of paper products in the sewer line. The City of Coos Bay immediately removed the blockage. The spill was estimated to be approximately 25 gallons. Hydrated lime was spread over the affected area. The lime and wash down liquid was then vacuumed up. None of the spill reached state waters. Questions should be directed to CH2M Hill at 541 267-3966.”
