Release from Coos Bay Schools Superintendent Bryan Trendell regarding the COVID-19 Virus. We realize the impact the mandatory school closure may have on many families in our area. We have had lots of offers for support and we will continue to try to meet the needs of all our students and families during this difficult time. March 13, 2020 (PM Update) – Dear Parents and Guardians, We realize the impact the mandatory school closure may have on many families in our area. The most recent information has not changed coming out of Salem at this time. As directed by the Governor, the Coos Bay School District will: Close schools from March 16-31. Our Administrative team will work to develop a plan moving forward after the closure to ensure our students get the quality education they deserve regardless of the current situation. Our custodial and maintenance staff will make sure every room in each building is cleaned and sanitized to be ready for the return of our staff and students. The District in cooperation with Sodexo Food Services will be providing 2 meals a day for our kids in a drop off style grab and go sack meal. The details of locations and times have been posted on our website and Facebook page and have been put out as a robocall to families. The ARK will remain open for limited hours next week to serve the needs of our students and families struggling with housing insecurity. Contact the ARK staff for hours of operation. We have had lots of offers for support and we will continue to try to meet the needs of all our students and families during this difficult time. We live in a great community and together we will work hard to help each other navigate through this time. As new information comes in, I will be posting it to our website and Facebook page.
