A Coos Bay teen, who was “cliff jumping” near Sunset Bay State Park, west of Charleston, Thursday night, got into trouble after jumping 80-feet into the Pacific Ocean. Justin Sweet went into the cold ocean water in an effort to rescue him, but also got into trouble. Nearby kayakers provided lifejackets until a US Coast Guard helicopter arrived and hoisted the two out of the water. The teen was identified as Chris Phillips. He was reported to be in critical condition at a Portland hospital.
