From the South Coast Labor Trends Newsleeter for Feb. 2015. Total payroll employment increased by 130 jobs in December. Manufacturing had the largest estimate job gain, up by 120 jobs over the month. Food manufacturing accounted for most of the manufacturing job rise. General merchandise stores added 20 jobs in December. rivate educational and health services employment rose slightly, up by 30 jobs over the month. Industries shedding jobs in December were the usual seasonal suspects: leisure and hospitality (-80) and construction (-20). Government employment showed a net gain \of 50 jobs since November. A gain of 60 local government jobs was slightly countered by a loss of 10 federal government jobs. Over the year, payroll employment increased by 410 jobs. Industries with over-the-year job losses included leisure and hospitality (-60) and financial activities (-20). Coos County industries adding jobs over the year include mining and logging (+50), manufacturing (+70), retail trade (+50), professional and business services (+140) , and private educational and health services (+30). Government employment was up by 90 jobs over the year. Gains in state government (+30) and local government (+60) contributed to the overall employment rise in public-sector employment.
