Coos Co. Sex Offender Sentenced, Nov. 7

A 70-year old former Bandon area resident was sentenced to 75-years in prison for Sexual Abuse crimes involving a female victim eight to nine years old “over a period of approximately one year.” According to a news release from Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, Anthony Damien Cordeiro was found guilty of one-counts of Attempted Rape in the First Degree, three-counts of Sodomy in the First Degree and three-counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree following a two-day trail in a Coos County Circuit Courtroom Nov. 2. Friday, Nov. 4, Judge Martin E. Stone sentenced Cordeiro. “As the victim was under the age of twelve when the abuse occurred, the sodomy charges were subject to the provisions of Jessica’s Law, which requires a minimum 25-year old prison sentence. Jessica’s Law is treated the same as a Measure 11 offense, meaning that every day of the 25-year sentence must be served and the defendant is not entitled to any form of early release or Parole.” Judge sentenced Cordeiro to 18-months in prison on the Attempted Rape in the First-Degree charge, 25-years on each of the three sodomy charges and 75-months on each of the sexual abuse in the first-degree charges. “Judge Stone order that all three of the sodomy sentences be served consecutive to each other.”
