Unauthorized Use
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On March 9th, 2014 Timothy Davidson of Coquille filed a report with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office that his 1986 white Chevy pickup truck had been stolen from the property where he had it parked, outside of Bandon.  On April 22nd, 2014 Mr. Davidson received information as to where his pickup was now at and called the Sheriff’s Office.  A sheriff’s Deputy and Bandon Police went to a residence on Ohio Street in Bandon and located the stolen vehicle.  The vehicle had been painted with different plates and tires also added to try to disguise the vehicle.  After an investigation Kenneth Wilson, 34 years old of Bandon, Oregon was arrested for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle after he was found in possession of the vehicle on property he lived on.  At the time of his arrest he was also in possession of methamphetamine.  Mr. Wilson was lodged at the Coos County Jail on both charges.

Reckless Driving
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On April 24, 2014 at about 12:10 AM a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle pass by him while traveling on Libby Lane near Coos Bay.  The deputy recognized the driver and knew the driver was suspended.  The deputy turned around to stop the vehicle, a 1997 Ford pickup but it sped away.  During his attempt to avoid the deputy, the driver of the vehicle violated a number of traffic laws and endangered other motorists.  After approximately 2 miles the vehicle stopped at a vacant residence on Shingle House Slough Road and the deputy was able to take the driver and only occupant of the vehicle into custody.  The driver was identified as 46 year old Troy Newsted of Bandon.  During the arrest suspected methamphetamine was located on Mr. Newsted and he was found to also be on probation.  A detainer was placed on Mr. Newsted by the Coos County Community Corrections Department.  Mr. Newsted was transported to the Coos County Jail and charged with Reckless Driving, Possession of Controlled Substance (Meth) and a Probation Detainer. Additionally he was issued traffic citations for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured and Fail to Register (vehicle registration).

Assault
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On 04/17/14 at 8:55 pm, Coos County Sheriffs Deputies responded to 150 N. 11TH ST. Lakeside, Coos County Oregon for a reported assault.  Following an investigation David Lee Redmond 58 years of age of Lakeside and 26 year old Marvin William Rowe, also of Lakeside were arrested for Assault II.  Both suspects were transported to Coos County Jail where they are being held on $250,000 thousand dollar bail.  The victim 45 year old John Douglas Livingston was transported to Bay Area Hospital by Bay Cities Ambulance and then later was transported via helicopter, to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland Oregon to be treated for his injuries.

DUII Crash
On April 21, 2014 at about 4:45 pm, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a 2 vehicle motor vehicle crash with one of the drivers of the involved vehicles reported to be intoxicated.  This was reported to be on East Bay Road, near mile post 1, North Bend.  Upon arrival Deputies found a 2 vehicle non injury accident and contacted the operators of the 2 vehicles involved.  The operator of one of the vehicles involved was 59 year old Kathleen Hashberger of North Bend who was operating a 2001 Honda Civic.  The operator of the second vehicle, a 1998 Plymouth Voyager Van was identified as 43 year old Amber Waters of lakeside.  When contacted she displayed signs of intoxication.  Ms. Waters was arrested for DUII (Alcohol) and transported to the Coos County Jail.  A sample of her breath indicated a blood alcohol content of .10%.  Amber Waters was also cited for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured, Fail to Register and Illegal Alteration/Display of License Plates.  Neither Kathleen Hashberger nor Amber Waters were injured in the accident.
