News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On June 15, 2014, at approximately 2249 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Charleston, Coos County, OR for multiple calls reporting that an intoxicated man was jumping out into traffic and attempting to get inside the vehicles as they stopped to avoid hitting him.  Deputies arrived on scene and contacted Glen Sears who was still standing in the middle of Cape Arago Highway.  He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.  Deputies then contacted and interviewed multiple witnesses that stated Mr. Sears had tried to unlawfully enter 4 different vehicles that he had caused to stop, in an effort to avoid hitting him, one of which he had ordered out of the vehicle in what witnesses described as an attempted carjacking.  Witnesses stated that at one point, one of the drivers of a vehicle that Mr. Sears had already tried to unlawfully enter was driving around in circles attempting to run Mr. Sears over, while another driver of a passerby vehicle stopped and held Sears at gunpoint.  This happened as a result of Glen Sears attempting to unlawfully enter a vehicle that was occupied by a female driver and her children.  After concluding their investigation, Deputies transported Glen Sears to the Coos County Jail without incident.  Glen was booked at around 0011 hours on June 16, 2014 for ORS 166.025 – Disorderly Conduct II, Attempted ORS 164.135 – Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, and 3 counts of Attempted ORS 164.272 – Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and is being held on $30,000 bail.  Thankfully, there was nobody hurt as a result of Glen’s criminal actions.  Deputies are asking that anyone who was involved or witnessed this incident to please contact the Coos County Sheriff’s Office at 541-396-2106.  Your help is greatly appreciated.
