Search Warrant Executed
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 4/8/14 at 08000 hours the Coos County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant to search a residence located at 59779 N. Roderick Road, #4, Coos Bay. The purpose of the warrant was a felon in possession of a firearm investigation initiated by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. This is known to be the primary residence of Eric A. Stinnitt 33 YOA of Coos Bay. During the search of the residence Deputies located two firearms under the control and or custody of Mr. Stinnitt. Mr. Stinnitt was arrested without incident and transported to the Coos County Jail and lodged. Mr. Stinnitt’s bail was listed at $50,000.00.
Assault IV Domestic
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 4-3-14, approximately 2137 hrs Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an assault which had taken place at 96358 Silverwood Lane in Lakeside OR. In the initial report 45 yoa Laurinda Carreia stated that during an argument her boyfriend 43 yoa Jeffery Waight had struck her in the left side of the ribs with a hand held sledge hammer. Laurinda then stayed on the phone with Dispatchers until shortly before the Deputies arrived when the line was disconnected. Following the investigation, Laurinda refused medical treatment and Jeffery was placed under arrest for Assault IV Dom; Menacing Dom; Interfering with 911 call and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was later transported to the Coos County Jail where he was being held on $55,000 Bail.
Suicidal Subject
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 4-5-14, approximately 0032 hrs Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Oregon State Police responded to a report of a suicidal woman at 63017 Fruitdale Rd Coos Bay OR. and upon arrival 54 yoa Colleen R. Graham was found inside the residence threatening herself with a kitchen knife. After she was disarmed and calmed down, Colleen agreed to voluntarily go to the Bay Area Hospital for an evaluation. Subsequent investigation however revealed Colleen was the respondent on a Coos County Restraining Order which prohibited her from being at this Fruitdale address and in contact with the petitioner, her estranged husband 45 yoa Anthony Graham the petitioner. At approximately 0252 hrs, following her medical clearance and release from Bay Area Hospital Colleen was taken into custody for Violation of a Restraining Order and transported to the Coos County Jail where she was then held on $7,500 bail.
Accidental Drowning
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 04/06/2014 at approximately 1730 hours the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible drowning near the Johnson Mountain Bridge, on the South Fork of the Coquille River near Powers. Emergency responders including the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Powers Police, Powers Fire Department, Myrtle Point EMS, and Lakeside Emergency Rescue Divers responded to the area. Witnesses at the scene said that Derrick J. Yarnell, age 20, of Coquille was with friends at the bridge and told friends that he was going to walk up and jump of the Johnson Mountain Bridge into the water. The height of the bridge at that point is about 65 feet above the water and Mr. Yarnell had previously jumped from the bridge successfully a couple of times over the years. His friends tried to discourage him, but he jumped anyway. Witnesses stated that after Derrick Yarnell jumped in to the water he did not return to the surface. On 04/07/2014 at approximately 0940 hours members from the Lakeside Dive Rescue Squad and Coos County Marine Deputies were able to recover Mr. Yarnell’s body just below where he had jumped in, in approximately 20 feet of water. The investigation is ongoing by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiner’s Office, alcohol and drugs are suspected as being a factor.
