Assault on Flower Road
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 12-26-14 @ about 0130 hours, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to 63541 Flower Road after receiving a 911 call of multiple gunshots. Deputies initially responded to the area of Wilshire Lane, in an attempt to locate potentially aggressive individuals driving a white Toyota Corolla. After finding the abandoned Toyota on South Spring Street, deputies were informed that shots had been fired on Flower Road. Arriving at Flower Road, deputies noticed three individuals standing or lying in the road. It was determined that James Wenzell had been shot in the right foot, prompting the immediate call for medical response. The other two individuals were unharmed. After ensuring the threats were no longer in the area, Deputies provided first aid for Mr. Wenzell while waiting for medical. A white Toyota arrived on scene and immediately sped away. With the help of North Bend Police, the vehicle was stopped and eventually impounded as evidence. Additional members of the Coos County Sheriff’s office were called out to assist with the ongoing investigation and remained at the scene for several hours. At the conclusion of the investigation all reports will be forwarded to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Criminal Trespass in Lakeside
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On December 25, 2014, at about 2100 hours, Deputies were dispatched to respond to 525 Kings Ave in Lakeside for a report of a hit and run. The suspect, James Birdsell, reportedly struck the victim’s vehicle, Danny Angello, with his red Ford van as he left the residence. It was reported Birdsell may have also assaulted someone at the residence prior to leaving. Deputies located the suspect at his residence, 190 S 8th in Lakeside. Deputies located the red Ford van at this residence and noticed recent body damage with white paint transfer. Deputies learned Birdsell entered the residence at 525 Kings Ave, uninvited and unwelcomed. When Birdsell was removed from the residence, he engaged Matthew Christensen and Angello in a physical altercation. When told to leave, Birdsell struck Angello’s vehicle with his vehicle. Birdsell admitted to consuming alcohol throughout the night. Birdsell refused standardized field sobriety tests and a breath test. Deputies obtained a blood sample from Birdsell at Bay Area Hospital. Birdsell was arrested for the above listed crimes and transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and lodged.
