ATV Accident in Dunes
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 06-02-14 at about 1033 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Hauser Fire and Rescue responded to the area of V-8 Hill located in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area for an ATV Crash. When personnel arrived they located Michael Andrews, age 25 from Fort Worth Texas. Mr. Andrews was operating his 4 wheeler, ATV when he went off of a sharp drop causing his ATV to flip. Mr. Andrews suffered a dislocated left hip and was subsequently transported to Bay Area Hospital by Bay Cities Ambulance.
Libby Lane Accident
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 5/30/14 at about 2012 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 2 vehicle injury crash on Libby Lane near mile post 3, west of Coos Bay. It appeared a blue 2006 Mitsubishi pick up bearing Oregon License 895 DPS, driven by Benjamin Martin of Coos Bay, struck a white Dodge Caravan bearing Oregon License plate XTM 241 that was driven by Laura Brown of Coos Bay. Browns vehicle was struck on the rear quarter panel on the driver’s side by Martin as she attempted to pull out onto Libby Lane. Both lanes of travel were temporarily blocked as a result of the crash. Both Drivers of the vehicles, Martin and Brown were transported to Bay Area Hospital by Bay Cities Ambulance to be treated for their injuries. The passengers in Ms. Brown’s vehicle, Dorene Alexander, Danielle Kitchens, Eddie Brewer and Leiontine Myers were also transported to Bay Area Hospital to receive treatment as well. Only minor injuries were reported. Oregon State Police assisted in the investigation. There were no citations issued as a result of the crash.
