Theft
news release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 10/22/14 at about 3:41 AM, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a call of 2 subjects possibly trespassing on property on Lois Lane, south of Bandon. A deputy responded to the area and began looking for the subjects. During that investigation the deputy had contact with two male subjects parked in a vehicle in the same general area as the trespass call. The subjects were identified and then released. The deputy finished checking the area but found no one else. At approximately 5:35 AM as the deputy was traveling back through the city of Bandon Deputy he observed the same vehicle, now parked in a parking lot in Bandon and now with large metal racks in the back of the vehicle that were not there before. After an investigation it was learned that the subjects had just stolen metal bread racks from the Price and Pride Store in Bandon. The 2 occupants of the vehicle, Michael R. Botts 37 of Coos Bay and William R. Hargis 43 off Coos Bay were arrested on charges of Theft II and PCS Meth. Both men were transported to the Coos County Jail where they were booked.

Hit & Run
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 22, 2014 at about 19:43 hours Coos County Sheriffs Deputies along with Charleston Fire and Bay Cities Ambulance responded to the intersection of Beacon Lane and Cape Arago Highway, south of Coos Bay to a report of pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. It was reported that the suspected vehicle was a white Ford pickup and had fled the scene. Upon arrival first responders located a male adult identified as 20 year old Nichclaus Degraffenried of Coos Bay who had been struck by a vehicle. The investigation revealed Mr. Degraffenried was riding his bicycle south bound on Cape Arago Highway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north bound on Cape Arago Highway. As a result of the crash Nichclaus Degraffenried was transported to Bay Area Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing at this time and the Sheriff’s Office is looking for the suspect vehicle involved. The vehicle is described as a white Ford extended cab pickup with damage to the front fender area, a headlight our and missing the passenger side mirror. The Sheriff’s Office is asking that if any one has any knowledge of this incident to call the Coos County Sheriff’s Office at 541-396-2106.

Lost Mushroom Picker
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 10/22/14 at 0627 hours the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the end of Hinch Lane, South Slough Sanctuary, south of Coos Bay, Oregon to a reported lost person. The subject in question, a 54 YOA female, had called 911 to report she had been out over night and was lost while mushroom picking. As a result Deputies responded to the area and contacted a male identified as Jose Navarro, 27 YOA of Coos Bay. It was learned that Mr. Navarro had accompanied the lost mushroom picker. It was determined while investigating the missing person’s case that Mr. Navarro had multiple felony probation warrants stemming from a previous drug possession case. Mr. Navarro was arrested without incident and transported to the Coos County Jail. Sheriff’s Deputies and the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, Neeko conducted the search. At about 1138 hours Deputies located the missing mushroom picker nearby. The mushroom picker had been exposed to the elements and was found to be hypothermic and she was transported to BAH.
