Every senior will be able get a vaccine, but many seniors will not be able to make an appointment to get immunized for several more weeks. There are many who are waiting, and we are committed to getting vaccines out as quickly as they arrive. Many community providers such as hospitals and pharmacies have vaccines appointments that are coming open daily. We will continue to share those events through the emails and phone calls that we send out to those who are on the vaccine registration list. They also follow the current vaccine distribution plan. Please check your pharmacies website for details on when vaccine appointments will be available. Please assist those who do not have computer access in booking appointments when they qualify for vaccine. Since vaccine became available in Coos County, 10,398 people have received the vaccine so far with 4,526 of those having received the second dose and 5,872 have received their first dose. While we are excited to get vaccines administered in Coos County, we will need to continue to take the precautions that we have been taking to prevent Covid-19 spread in our community. Continue to wear mask, stay physically distant from those outside your household and wash your hands frequently. We also need to continue to test and to work with contact tracers as these are some of the best tools, we have for reducing the spread of Covid-19.
