Coos Co. Vaccine Update, March 23

CHW release – Coos County vaccine administration is moving quickly due to the partnership of many area agencies. Bay Area Hospital, Coast Community Health, Coos Health & Wellness, Coquille Valley Hospital, North Bend Medical Center, Southern Coos Hospital, Waterfall Health Clinic and many area pharmacies. In Coos County, approximately 45% of adults over 65 have received at least 1 dose of vaccine. There has been approximately 25% of the total adult population in Coos County have received at least one dose of vaccine as of Monday’s data. Monday, March 22, Governor Brown announced an updated timeline for vaccine eligibility throughout Oregon. These changes in eligibility can be found on the Coos Health & Wellness Covid webpage. March 29 remains the statewide date for Phase 1B, Group 6, which includes: Adults 45-64 with one or more underlying health conditions with increased risk; Migrant and seasonal farmworkers; Seafood and agricultural workers; Food processing workers; People living in low-income senior housing, senior congregate and independent living; Individuals experiencing houselessness; People currently displaced by wildfires; Wildland firefighters; Pregnant people 16 and older. While we are excited to get vaccines administered in Coos County, we will need to continue to take the precautions that we have been taking to prevent Covid-19 spread in our community.
