Coos County Cultural Coalition provides grant to support CAM Biennial 2016 exhibition at Coos Art Museum, Jan. 28

The Coos County Cultural Coalition has awarded a $900 grant to Coos Art Museum to help support its 2016 CAM Biennial Exhibition. The Coos County Cultural Coalition is organized for the purpose of preserving, protecting and developing the arts, heritage and humanities in Coos County through periodic distribution of grant monies to qualified applicants. The Coalition exists to support those cultural activities that meet the priorities of the Coalition as stated in the Coos County Cultural Plan. The 2016 CAM Biennial is scheduled to be on display at the Museum October 14 through December 2, 2016. Recognized as one of the Museum’s most diverse exhibitions the CAM Biennial features a wide range of media and styles. Local visual artists exhibit and compete with artists from across Oregon on a truly level field. Both professional and amateur works are presented side-by-side along with works rarely seen in a public setting. Without the extensive curating or jurying process typical of most exhibitions, emerging artists in particular embrace this unique opportunity to exhibit at the Museum. CAM Biennial 2016 will be displayed throughout all six of Coos Art Museum’s Galleries filling the entire museum. As a highlight of CAM Biennial 2016, visitors to the Museum will be encouraged to vote for their favorite exhibited artwork. Winner of this “People’s Choice” award will be given a solo exhibition at the museum in 2017.
