The Coos County Master Gardeners are busy gearing up for the Coos County Fair, set for July 21st through 25th in Myrtle Point. With the theme of “Country Scenes and Children’s Dreams” the booth this year will focus on ways to improve your gardens and things you can do with children in the garden. Informative banners will decorate the booth and provide lots of fun ideas for garden-related activities and crafts, as well as ways you can incorporate education into time in the garden. Throughout the week the booth will be staffed by Master Gardener volunteers, ready to help you with your gardening questions. The booth will open at 10 each morning, and close at 7 p.m. The public is invited to stop by and chat, ask questions, or even bring in plant samples to help determine insect or disease issues. There will be a variety of prizes on display for the free raffle. Get a ticket and put it in the item you would most like to win. Winners will be notified by phone after fair is over. If you’ll be attending fair with children, don’t miss our Garden Hat Making Table where kids can make fanciful and fun newspaper hats and embellish them with ribbons, feathers and other decorations. Hat making is free and will take place on Thursday, from 1 to 3 p.m. Look for the Coos County Master Gardener booth in the grove near the Floral Building.
