Coos County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse concluded their annual Christmas basket event Sunday, Dec. 18. The Posse raised $2,156 for this event from their annual “Christmas in October” fundraiser event on October 8th. The event, sponsored by the Grange Co-op, included a public trail ride, lunch, poker hands and raffle. Along with the help of a $1,000 donation from McKay’s Markets 18 families were provided Christmas food boxes and gifts for their 30 plus children. These boxes contained the makings for a complete Christmas dinner. The families were selected by the Coos County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse members. Boxes were distributed at Millington Fire District #5 Saturday afternoon, and delivered by Posse members to those who could not make it to the fire hall. Coos County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that supports the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Department, fosters horsemanship, and serves the community.
