Coos County Tourism Workgroup, Jan. 19

The City of Coos Bay was asked to distribute this news release.  The Coos County Tourism Workgroup, a newly formed non-profit organization formed under a joint agreement between Coos County and Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, is seeking interested citizens wishing to serve on the board of directors.  The purpose of the Board is to govern the Coos County Tourism non-profit and oversee activities aimed at achieving the organizational goal to invest in strengthening tourism in the South Coast’s evolving economy. The initial nine member Board will be appointed by the Coos County Commissioners.   The Board will consist of: one (1) County representative; two (2) Bandon Dunes representatives; four (4) Geographic representatives: and two (2) At Large representatives.    Required qualifications included: experience in the tourism industry;  be connected with tourism partners and or projects in Coos County;  be collaborative and regional-minded; be willing and able to put the need of the Coos County first; have enthusiasm and time to fully participate; and abide by a code of conduct approved by the Board.  In addition, all Geographic Representative Directors are required to live or work in Coos County. Persons interested in serving on the board of the Coos County Tourism Workgroup are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Connie Stopher, SCDC Executive Director by email (connie@scdcinc.org) prior to January 27th.  Letters of interest should include the position being sought (at-large or geographic areas) and your qualifications.  It is anticipated that applicants will be interviewed on or about February 3rd.
