Paper Puppet Theater Camp is a great way to learn about the many characters of Coos County. We will explore the basics of everything you need to start your own paper theater! For children 7-10 years old – Each, 1 week, session will run from 9-1pm at the Coos History Museum. Session 1: 7/17-7/21; Session 2: 8/14-8/18; Tuition per week: $110 Non- Members $90 Members; Space is limited/15 child limit per session. We will use copies of images from real photos in the museum’s collection to create the set, characters, and storyline for a puppet show performance at the end of each session. Program Goals: • Introduction to the history of paper theaters. • Gain knowledge of a real Coos County story. • Learn how to understand character, and storyline development. • Learn basic skills to plan, produce, and use a personal paper theater. This will be a wonderful week of cutting, gluing, writing, and acting, to present a never before seen Coos County tale! If your child enjoys constructing dioramas, making up stories, or acting, this is a great way to collaborate with others and be creative this summer! The Coos History Museum creates a better understanding of life in Coos County and Oregon’s South Coast, past and present. The Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and receives no direct government support. The museum survives on donations, memberships, grants, museum store sales, special event rentals and legacy/bequest gifts. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and on the first Tuesday evening of each month. Admission is free for CHM members, active duty military, and NARM members.
