Guest Speaker:  Alexa Carlton, Outreach Coordinator, Coos Watershed Association, Tuesday – April 3, 2018, 6:00pm – 8:30pm. Local ecologist and educator, Alexa Carleton, will be the guest speaker at the Coos History Museum First Tuesday Talks Lecture series on Tuesday – April 3, 2018.  Carleton will present “Ecological Landscaping: Bringing the Wild Back into Our Urban Spaces” and discuss the benefits of ecological landscaping; that which provides benefits to water, land, and wildlife.  Carleton describes ecological landscaping as easy, fun, and a critical component to a sustainable future. She will provide her favorite list of plants that are well-adapted to our area, provide numerous benefits to people and wildlife alike, and are easy to obtain locally. She will also explain the unique landscaping at the Coos History Museum, which was designed to attract pollinators and filter the parking lot’s runoff before it reaches the bay. The lecture will begin at 6:30pm.  The museum, galleries, and store will be open for extended hours during the event. Cost for the event is $7.00 for adults.  Admission is free for museum members. In its second year, the First Tuesday Talks Lecture Series is a monthly event at the Coos History Museum.  The First Thursday Talks Lecture Series is hosted February through June, and August through December. The series is sponsored by Al Peirce Co with in-kind support from The Mill Casino. For more information, contact the Coos History Museum at 541-756-6320 or visit the website at www.cooshistory.org.
