COVID-19 Vaccine Lottery Winners, Aug. 11

CHW release – Coos Health & Wellness hosted the COVID-19 vaccine lottery winners on August 6th in a small ceremony to award them their much anticipated $10,000 checks. Katherine Walter, Britany Sadler, Delicia Cunningham, Lorraine Felton, Pamela Calandrino and Kari Leffler were joined by the Director and Deputy Director of Coos Health & Wellness to congratulate them on their efforts to stop the COVID-19 Pandemic and celebrate their winnings. When asked how she felt about winning, 98 year old Loraine Felton stated with glee, “I’ve never won anything in my life!” Tuesday, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in our communities, the single most important step you can take to slow the spread of this virus is to receive your COVID-19 vaccine. This pandemic now affects the unvaccinated population overwhelmingly at a rate of 87.5% of all local cases and will continue to spread as long as the vaccine rates continue to remain low. With the Delta variant being the predominant strain, and nearly three times more contagious, vaccines reduce the likelihood of hospitalizations and death.
