COVID temporarily closes tribal clinic, Dec. 4

Coquille Tribe release – Out of an abundance of caution, the Coquille Indian Tribe has closed its Community Health Center until further notice, while it investigates and responds to possible COVID-19 exposure. A health center employee tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. “The health and well-being of our patients and staff is our top priority,” said tribal Chairman Brenda Meade. “Our team is working to assure the utmost safety before we reopen.” Appropriate COVID-19 protocols are being followed, including a deep cleaning of the health center and complete contact tracing. The tribe plans to keep the clinic closed at least through Monday, Dec. 7, and then re-evaluate the situation. The health center is located on the Kilkich Reservation near Charleston.
