She’s known to most as “Cricket”. Cricket Soules was honored Saturday, Jan. 27 as the Citizen of the Year during the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet at the Mill Casino/Hotel/RV Park in North Bend. She’s been heavily involved in the preservation of the Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery, but also active in many other community causes as well. Business of the Year honors went to Tower Ford, while Lonni Corona was honored as Chamber Member of the Year. The Educator of the Year honors went to Teri Jones, while the McIntosh Family received a new award honoring lifetime achievement as the Richard “Mac” McIntosh Education Legacy Impact award. The President’s Award went to the charitable Ford Family Foundation, while the Prefontaine Memorial Committee Athletic Award went to George LaGesse. Community Awards were presented to: The Liberty Theatre – Home of Little Theatre on the Bay; The Dolphin Playhouse – Home of the Dolphin Players; and, Oregon Coast Lab Band. Departing Board of Director members were recognized for their service: Jon Hanson (6 years), Lonni Corona (1 year), Mark Wall (6 years), Jayson Wartnik (6 years), Pamela de Jong (3 years), Barry Winters (4 years), Deborah Rudd (4 years).
