The Oregon Department of Corrections, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public’s help to locate an escaped fugitive. On Friday August 12, 2016, at 10:37 a.m., Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct officers responded to assist the Oregon Department of Corrections in the area of Pittock Mansion in Northwest Portland to find an inmate that walked away from a work crew. The fugitive, 37-year-old Jasson Lewis Ray, is described as a white male, 5’8″ tall, 260 pounds, shaved head, blue eyes, goatee, with lots of tattoos. After his escape, Ray sought medical treatment at a Portland hospital but did not remain to see a doctor. Ray may have returned to the Lane County area where he is from originally. Photos of Ray are being released to aid in his capture, including a Facebook photo, his Oregon driver’s license photo and hospital surveillance. Ray was serving time with the Oregon Department of Corrections on firearm and theft charges. Ray has prior convictions for assault and has criminal history in California and Arizona.
