The body of a 29-year old California male was recovered near the entrance of the Rogue River at Gold Beach on Saturday, Dec. 26. A citizen reported the body to the Curry Co. Sheriff’s Office who responded with two Marine Deputies and a boat. They recovered the body of Hector Camarena, of Redwood City, CA. Deputies recognized him as an individual they had contacted in late November at the Lobster Creek Campground, nine-miles east of Gold Beach. It was reported that Camarena had dove into the river on that date, but was pulled to safety and transported to the hospital. The campground host reported him missing on November 30.
