Search & Rescue personnel in Curry County were called out Saturday afternoon to a report of a male and three juveniles falling off a beachside cliff, 13-miles north of Brookings. First Responders located 36-year old Ryan Acord, Grants Pass, deceased on the beach, and eight-year old Nolan Acord injured nearby. The two were about 200-feet below the end of the trail. The boy was airlifted by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter from North Bend and flown to Curry General Hospital at Gold Beach. He was later transferred by air to OHSU in Portland. Two other male juveniles had also fallen down the steep embankment, but caught themselves on vegetation. SAR members were able to rappel to the two and bring them back to safety.
