LINCOLN CITY — Southbound U.S. 101 has one lane closed on the D-River Bridge in Lincoln City while a bridge support girder under the bridge is repaired. Closing the lane will reduce the weight of traffic on the bridge and provide a safer work area for crews and travelers. Crews have been working on the D-River Bridge for the past year, rehabilitating the bridge support girders, adding reinforcement to strengthen the bridge, and applying a cathodic protection system, which protects the structure from corrosion. Crews removing damaged concrete from the westernmost girder found cracks in the girder that were larger than expected. Structural engineers are assessing the bridge to determine the appropriate method of repair. The lane will remain closed until the girder is repaired and traffic can be supported safely. Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, is available and identified through or around the work zones.
