Deadline to get your Economic Impact Payment, Nov. 10

Salem, Ore. – Tuesday, November 10 has been designated as National Economic Impact Payment Registration Day as a way to remind people to see if they are eligible for this money. Thousands of Oregonians have not taken advantage of the federal government’s Economic Impact Payment. Individuals can receive up to $1,200, and married couples can get up to $2,400. People with qualifying children under 17 at the end of 2019 can get an additional $500 for each qualifying child. But many people don’t know that they are eligible or don’t know how to get this money. The deadline is Saturday, November 21 by 3 p.m. The IRS has mailed letters to people who may qualify for this payment. Because some people aren’t required to file a federal tax return, the letter urges people to visit the Non-Filers Payment Info Tool: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here before the November 21 deadline. Help is available – Local help is available for free or low cost through MFS CASHOregon, 503-966-7942. The 211 Info hotline also can assist by phone, call 211; email: help@211info.org; or text your ZIP code to 898211. Additional resources – For more information on eligibility requirements, see the Economic Impact Payment: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payment-information-center-eip-eligibility-and-general-information. Those unable to access the Non-Filers tool may submit a simplified paper return following the procedures described in the Economic Impact Payment Frequently Asked Questions: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment-frequently-asked-questions. Beginning two weeks after you register, people can track the status of their payment using the Get My Payment tool, available only on IRS.gov: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment#_blank.
