On December 14, 2016, OSP received a report of a deceased individual at an abandoned house at 3116 Maryland Avenue, Klamath Falls. Troopers responded and found a human corpse that had been decomposing for an extended period of time. The OSP Klamath Falls Major Crimes Section responded to assist with the investigation. Investigators located a cell phone and some paperwork with some identifying information on it. After reviewing a video on the cell phone, it appeared the individual in the video had a bracelet that matched the deceased. The subject in the video was also wearing a piece of clothing that was also found near the deceased. The video on the cell phone was dated from April of 2016. On December 21, 2016, the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and identified the deceased as James A CRAIGER, age 50, who had been a listed as a missing person since May of 2016. OSP investigators have learned that CRAIGER was homeless that had been staying at various locations in Klamath County, including the abandoned house.
